Experience and Qualifications

Jonathan Spangler has spent over ten years living in Taiwan and China. During this time, he has translated or proofread over a hundred academic articles, policy reports, speeches, personal statements, and other texts. Many of these have been published in leading academic journals, presented at conferences, or helped clients to secure research grants, fellowships, and other professional or academic opportunities. He is a native English speaker and published author, and he received his Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) Certificate (Level 5 – Fluent) in 2017.

Rates

• Translation (Chinese-to-English): $20 document fee + $0.08 per character
• Proofreading (English): $20 document fee + $0.04 per word
• Additional Research: $20/hour (e.g., fact-checking, fixing citation errors, confirming terminology)
